A missing October Scouting Report Pack and a new 99 OVR Bobby Witt Jr. can make the same inventory screen feel unusually confusing. Before spending MLB The Show 26 Stubs to prepare for the October 14 programs, separate three different systems: newsletter rewards, special pack inserts, and named-player missions. The important question isn't simply whether you own the newest card, but whether your next move actually advances the objective you're chasing.
Your Existing Witt Card Has a Job to Do
The most useful detail in the October 14 programs is also the easiest to overlook: their shared Bobby Witt Jr. mission accepts any version of him. You don't need the new 99 OVR special insert to earn the associated program progress. That makes checking your collection a better opening move than immediately searching for an upgrade.
Earning 500 Parallel XP with Witt awards 10 points in each of Black Gold, Autumn Ascensions, and Heavy Lumber. Those points stay within their respective programs, so this is overlapping progress across three separate reward paths, not a single combined payout.
◆ If you already own a Witt card, use that version for the named-player requirement instead of treating the October insert as an entry fee.
◆ Check each program's remaining rewards before committing playtime, because the same mission can have different practical value on each track.
From a lineup-management perspective, this changes the purchase decision considerably. A stronger Witt card might still interest you, but its appeal should come from how it fits your team or collection-not from a mission requirement that doesn't exist.
The New 99 OVR Is a Separate Pursuit
The October 14 pack update identifies a 99 OVR Bobby Witt Jr. special insert from the 2026 Topps Update Series Baseball collection as a possible find in The Show Pack. That acquisition route matters: it does not establish him as an October Scouting Report reward. Similar timing doesn't make two rewards part of the same distribution system.
There's also a meaningful difference between seeing a card advertised and having a dependable route to obtaining it. The pack description offers a chance at the insert, not a promise that opening a particular pack will produce Witt. General Diamond-player odds do not tell you the individual probability of pulling this specific version.
◆ Treat the special insert as a collection or roster target, separate from the 500 Parallel XP objective.
◆ Don't turn a broad Diamond probability into a personal estimate for Witt, because those are different measurements.
For players focused on efficient progression, the sensible move is to complete the mission with an available version while considering the new card independently. That keeps a straightforward gameplay task from becoming an open-ended pack pursuit.
Check the Account Before Refreshing Your Inbox
Scouting Report rewards follow a different process entirely. The announced 2026 schedule runs monthly from April through December, with packs delivered directly to inventory through the newsletter subscription arrangement. An email can provide information, but it isn't the inventory reward itself.
Access starts with an MLB The Show account, an active Scouting Report subscription, and the relevant platform account linked correctly. When an expected pack is missing, those account details are more useful places to investigate than repeatedly checking whether a message has arrived.
1) Confirm that the Scouting Report subscription is active on the account you intend to use.
2) Check that your playing platform is linked to that account rather than assuming an earlier sign-in completed the setup.
3) Inspect your in-game inventory for the specifically named reward, keeping unrelated packs separate.
The February 3, 2026 announcement establishes the monthly schedule beginning in April, but it doesn't establish an exact October delivery hour or immediate fulfillment after registration. A missing pack therefore doesn't, by itself, tell you whether the issue is timing or account setup. Check what you can verify without inventing a delivery deadline.
Match Your Next Move to Your Actual Goal
The cleanest approach is to decide which result you want before opening packs or changing your lineup. If your priority is program progress, an existing Witt card addresses the named-player mission. If you want the October special insert specifically, newsletter troubleshooting won't move you closer to that collection target.
Likewise, a Scouting Report subscription is worth checking for its own monthly reward, not as an assumed route to the new 99 OVR. Keeping those goals separate saves unnecessary menu navigation and makes it easier to tell whether you've actually solved the original problem.
Before looking for cheap MLB The Show 26 Stubs, establish whether you need another card at all. Your current Witt may already cover the mission, while a missing newsletter pack calls for account and inventory checks rather than another purchase. Spend your playtime-and any currency you choose to use-on the objective that remains after those checks.
